This distinctive Rwandan coffee is produced by a network of smallholder farmers and processed at the Mwito Central Washing Station, owned by the Rwanda Trading Company (RTC) since 2017. Founded in 2009, RTC was created to drive positive social impact by building transparent supply chains and delivering fair economic returns to local farming communities. Today, RTC is responsible for processing and exporting approximately 25% of Rwanda’s coffee.
Located in a remote and rugged region near the stunning Lake Kivu, Mwito is one of RTC’s most challenging stations to access—making it a true labor of love. Beyond coffee, the station supports a herd of cows that provide organic fertiliser and fresh milk to a kindergarten established on-site by RTC.
